Does the Boise loss help or hurt TCU?

Does it make TCU the clear cut #3 (in the voters eyes) now that they aren't splitting votes with Boise or does it just close the gap between LSU and the other one loss teams now that Boise isn't in the way.

Could TCU lose votes because some voters will actually realize if they ever played someone there is no way in hell they would be undefeated?

Slippery slope, brah. You're thinking too hard.

TCU was 3rd in the computers with LSU 4. I could definitely see that flip flop after this week if both teams win

LSU will probably jump TCU due to this + playing New Mexico if LSU beats Arkansas.

I think they'll be a clearcut #3 after this.

Unless they severely struggle tomorrow, you can't put them behind LSU.

if LSU were to somehow stomp Arkansas @Arky, why couldn't you put LSU above them?

If we can beat #12 Arky tomorrow on the road fairly handily, we very well could jump TCU in the polls.

Without a doubt help. It doesn't matter to TCU if they're #3 or #7, as long as they're the highest ranked non-BCS team. They will without a doubt be it, now. It's likely before that they wouldn't have been.

TCU goes to the Rose Bowl at worst if they can beat 1-11 New Mexico

Pretty good situation to be in if you're a TCU fan

Yeah I'd consider this most like putting them in the Rose Bowl helping.

However, I think the OP refers just to their BCS rankings. I think they'll be a lot further behind AU and Oregon as those 2 will share almost all Boise St's higher votes however they'll be third on more ballots than LSU even though I would vote that way.

I mean, it might, but I guess my point is that their BCS ranking is completely meaningless.

It definitely helps them if their goal is a BCS game. If it is a nation championship I am not so sure. Boise kind of provided a buffer between them and the 1 loss teams. Now with Boise going down all of those teams jump up one spot and TCU stay in the same spot.

Example... if LSU wins tomorrow they will probably gain about 55 votes in the coaches poll (just from being put ahead of Boise, it actually could be more depending on how many coaches had Boise ahead of LSU). That would bring their % of points up to from .796 to .833. Many voters already have TCU ahead of Boise, so even though they may get more votes than they had last week, they will still be losing ground on the one loss teams.

ETA: I should have probably titled the thread "Could Boising losing cause the one loss teams to catch TCU and knock them out of the NC game"

Chances are you're right. However stranger things have happened than what an upset of AU or Oregon would be and in that case TCU's poll rankings could be pretty important...

Either way, the Boise St loss is still best for TCU as now they actually have at least a very slim chance at the championship game and at worst a BCS bowl.

Best case scenario for TCU:

Arkansas beats LSU.

SoCar beats AU in the SECCG. OR Oregon State beats UO.

They BTHO New Mexico.

What else needs to happen for them to be in?

It doesn't hurt. The pollsters will keep them up where they are because now they only have one BCS Buster team to vote for to try and crush the BCS which is their agenda.

The computer will dip because they play a shitty team tomorrow so with an LSU win, they could flip.
