What LSU team would show up? Are you convinced that the team has really come together after the Bama game? How do we really stack up against TCU or Boise State? Even if Jefferson/Lee were playing good, how would we do? I'm not so sure of the answer. Part of it depends on what type of game, style and play calling Miles & Crowton would employ.

I would think Miles would "open it up" like he did against Alabama in the SECOND HALF in such a big (bowl) game. But why did he NOT do that against Auburn? Was it because Jefferson's throws were off early in the Auburn game? I really think Miles "tested" Jefferson's arm/accuracy on the last series of the first half in the Alabama game to see if he could connect. It was somewhat dangerous being deep in our own territory. But when he saw Jefferson was on, he continued that strategy early in the second half. For the first time this year, he allowed Jefferson to throw on both FIRST & SECOND DOWN - which resulted in the score. Miles finally opened it up and it worked. This is what so many of us have been screaming for all year.

What team or what Miles (playing style) would show up for a TCU or Boise State? Irregardless, how would LSU actually "do" against either a TCU or Boise? I don't think you can just compare LSU's efforts against Bama. You would have to consider the entire past season, and of course the remaining games yet to be played.

No homer sunshine pumping. Reality! How would we do?

TCU's opponent rankings by scoring offense/defense:

Oregon St. 59 65
Tenn. Tech (not even in FBS or whatever they call it)
Baylor 26 66
SMU 69 69
Colorado St 107 98
Wyoming 113 97
BYU 101 61
Air Force 45 49
UNLV 115 115
Utah 9 14

Utah has played a worse schedule than probably anyone in the country (2 teams with barely winning records), so their stats were obviously padded, thus overated (TCU's "quality" win along with an average Oregon St. team).

TCU has faced an average offense of 71.55 plus factoring in Utah at 9 and not factoring in Tenn. Tech which does not rank, but would be extremely poor.

TCU has faced an average defense of 70.44 plus factoring in Utah at 14 and not Tenn. Tech

If you take overated Utah out of the equation to equal out the Tenn Tech stats not being included, they have faced an average of the 78.1 offense and 77.5 defense.

Please explain how they "deserve" to be in the NC game because they beat up on some high school teams.

TCU would be the tougher game. People can say what they want about quality of opponent, but TCU has only allowed three teams to score double digits. They held Baylor to 10 points and 160 yds passing (Baylor is averaging 34 ppg, 300 pass yds pg).

Honestly, I'm not sure how we'd do against them. I believe we CAN win. I don't know that we WOULD win for sure. Both of those teams have proven they are worthy opponents. I don't buy into the whole "they don't play anybody" nonsense. They're good programs and if you line up to play them, you are going to be in for a war. I would hope that our players wouldn't be as arrogant as some of our fans are, if we do happen to line up and play either one. If we do end up in the Sugar Bowl, I'd love to see us line up against either one of those teams just to see what would happen. But I think we'd have a sizeable advantage because of the "home field" with the game being here in Louisiana.

Given Miles' history in Bowl games at LSU, I think he could comeup with something good to beat them Especially with a whole month to prep.

That's all well and good, but you have look further than that. I'm willing to bet TCU held every one of their opponents below their average yds per game and points per game.

So the average of TCU's opponents' offensive rankings is higher than LSU's ranking.

WRONG!!!

LSU faced an average offense of 57.8 and an average defense of 39.6

We also had McNeese as a non-FBS opponent that did not factor in.

Like a rented mule. Remember Ga. Tech and how tough that game was supposed to be. TCU and Boise are the same type of competetion.

Remains to be seen how they finish out the season, but Baylor was ranked #21 in the BCS before losing to Okie. St, and they're also in second place currently in the Big 12 South, in addition to having a better offense than LSU.

yes I have to give props to Les for preparing well for bowl games. With that much time to prepare we would beat anyone, even Auburn or Oregon.

TCU is for real...We would have our hands full. Just about all their starters are seniors...this is their year.

Boise would be an easier win IMO.

LSU is ranked 74th overall in points per game. So yes, the average offensive ranking of TCU's opponents is better than LSU's ranking.

And again to my point, TCU has held every opponent below their average offensive output. So to just state their rankings as some kind of negative indication to TCU isn't telling the complete story.

They have a solid team, and I don't understand why people see the need to cut them down. The point of this thread is would we beat TCU or Boise State in a bowl game. I believe we would, but it wouldn't necessarily be a cake walk. TCU's defense is good, and they've slowed down and shut down offenses that have played better this season than LSU's offense has.
