Was at the Purple and Gold game and saw it some what differently then Raparooot however; I agree with most of his assessments. For one, the 7-2 Andrew Del Piero did play for a couple of minutes in the second half. It’s more than apparent that he is a couple years away. He looks awkward playing defense and does not use his body well. Nonetheless, I don’t see him as a total waste and will in my opinion be able to contribute next year. Here is my observation on the following players:
Garrett Green Not much of an offensive player and appears to have lost confidence in his offensive game.
Chris Bass I believe that Chris will play more of a role than most people think. Trent Johnson is moving towards a more down court transition game in which they push the ball down court as soon as rebounding. A few times, he was paired in the same back court as Andre Stringer.
Malcolm White Cat quick, extremely athletic however, is offensive game is limited. I see him averaging 8 to 6 points per game. He is a good not great rebounder.
Ralston Turner A scorer who in my opinion should start the first game. In my opinion, he played the best game of anyone on the court tonight; a pleasant surprise.
Eddie Lugwig Will contribute more this year. Can shoot the three and has a decent handle with the ball however limited on defense.
Storm Warren Very athletic but limited offensively. It’s no question that he and Malcolm are the two strongest players on the team and will score a lot of garbage baskets close around the basket.
Denis Harris Good offensive player and can shoot the three point shot. If he can ever gain weight, he may one day make it to the NBA. He is a much better shooter than Chris Johnson however; his body will be a big liability to bigger and stronger players.
Matt Derenbecker Did not have a good game. Can shoot from outside, is a decent passer however, he does not play good defense.
Andre Stringer Cat quick, decent passer, can shoot the three. In my opinion, his biggest challenge will be guarding bigger more athletic players.
Also, I too saw Johnny O’Bryant and his family. I now see where he gets his height from. I stood next to his mother and the woman has to be nearly 6’2. He looks to be around 6’9 to 6’10 with a muscular frame similar to Malcolm White.
