Pierre Thomas Discussed in Trade to Pats

Word out of Foxborough, Mass., is that Saints running back Pierre Thomas (injured left ankle and all) apparently was close to becoming a member of the New England Patriots. The teams apparently discussed a deal on the eve of the trading deadline on Oct. 19 - Thomas for a cornerback. Talks, according to a source, ended when the Patriots wanted the Saints to throw in a draft pick.

PT>Bush

Bush>PT. But, I still wouldn't trade him yet. Especially to the Pats. Not only because I hate them, but because they have no cornerbacks!

That doesn't make sense, the pats have some pretty average cornerbacks.

and we have some pretty injury prone ones
I could see wanting a draft pick if you were talking McCourty or Butler

They aren't going to resign him and they were trying to get something for nothing essentially

The Patriots always want a damn draft pick, and they do a good job of convincing teams to seemingly give them away. Glad our front office wasn't dumb enough to give away PT and a draft pick for some half arse corner.

teams around the league need to boycott doing deals with the patty cakes. it's getting absurd..

Yea, I would be all for Butler/McCourty and a draft pick

I don't think I would've liked that trade. PT, injury prone or not, can be a gamebreaker and a huge difference maker when actually playing.

Am I the only one who thinks that the Pierre Thomas injury is related to his brief contract holdout this past summer? I think the team doctors said he was okay to go, then he got some personal doctors who said he is not, and the team and him are at odds now. If that's true, I'm not surprised the Saints would try to trade him. Maybe this has all been addressed here before - I haven't been here in a while.
Which sucks royally - because PT is one of my favorites.

What about Pierre for Jerod Mayo? It would give us a good, young LBer.
That being said, trading Pierre is stupid. He's a great RB that fits in our offense.

the pats arent stupid enough to trade mayo for thomas
as a saints fan, i wouldnt think twice about it, but theres no way that happens

why would we trade the best RB on our roster for ANOTHER cornerback. Especially when the running game has been almost non existent. I don't get it

runningbacks are a dime a dozen.
Posted on 11/3/10 at 11:04 pm to Lsuhoohoo
Maybe because RB's are a dime a dozen and we have exactly 1 healthy CB right now?

Pierre can be replaced rather easily, IMO. But, he can't be replaced in the middle of the season.

RB's aren't nearly as dime a dozen as 5th and 6th corners.
