Listing of the Pros and Cons of Les Miles as HC

Everyone seems to get all excited and throw out meaningless drivel when they discuss Miles and his future at LSU. Well, lets try to list the pros and cons of Les Miles as HC and what he brings to the entire program. If it is a pro/con that is absurd, I will not list it. Some items can arguably be on either side, and if that is the case, I will list them as such. I will try and keep up with people's suggestions. Please, do not hijack the thread and bitch about someone's suggestion. Just list things you would like to see added to the Pro side and what should be added to the Con side.
Once we have established a comprehensive list, we can engage in a more constructive debate. If you want Miles gone, you will have to address as many Cons as possible while maintaining as many Pros as possible. Vice versa if you want Miles to stay. I will get the list started.
Pros:
Violation-free program
Realistically expect 9+ wins a year
Realistically expect Top 5 Recruiting classes(Family man included in this pro)
Realistically expect SEC West every 4 years
Realistically expect SEC Champion every 6 years
Some great assistant coaches
Ingenious quotes
4th quarter fireworks
Player loyalty
Bowl-game preperation
Hardly ever get blown out/Hang close as underdog
Added: Don't expect his name to come up on a whole lot of coaching vacancy short lists unlike Saban whose name was brought up every 3 months
Cons:
Player loyalty
Some questionable assitant coaches
Realistically expect 2+ loss each year
Realistically expect 1+ loss as a favorite
Realistically expect problems to be addressed ONLY at the end of the season
Idiotic quotes
4th quarter fireworks
Questionable in-game coaching
Hardly ever blow someone out/keep it close as favorite
Added: Don't expect his name to come up on a whole lot of coaching vacancy short lists

Pros
Recruiting
Cons
Everything else
(P.S. A list of Pros and Cons should actually be relevant to the assessment being undertaken. Thus, "family man" should be stricken from your list. The fact that Miles is a family man is completely unrelated to his abilities as a college football coach.)

Does "family man" really belong a Pros list? How is that related to coaching football?

Should be changed to 2, when has he lost less than 2?

really, every 4 years? So if we don't win this year (doubtful) we DEFINITELY will win next year? GTFO.

Again, really? How do you come up with this "realistic" expectation?

how many different assistant coaches has he hired? How good have they been?

Pros
1. W-L record
2. Recruiting
3. With a month to prepare his teams play well
Cons
1. Recruiting-gets too much credit for recruting a state rich in talent and facilites are 2nd to none. Everyone wants to say what did Hallman and Dinardo do etc....well LSU was not a powerhouse and did not have the facilities it has now.
2. Clock management
3. Gameday coaching
4. Interviews
5. Player loyalty- an obvious hinderance considering he remains loyal to players that are not producing.
6. Indecisive- kept GC too long!

I'd add "makes question assitant hires"
Examples:
Gary Crowton
Mallveto
Billy G. to this point

If you are looking for a perfect program every year, it's not going to happen. No one has that sort of advantage these days. It has been a long time since I played organized football, but I still remember my days in high school and college. When you have 11 folks on the field that have to click together to make a play happen successfully, it is not going to happen each and every snap. Moreover, there are going to be some opponents who are simply going to be better. It may not be a spectacular team but it is still 7-1 and in the top 12 in the country. There are a lot of other teams out there that are not.

I am not trying to be a smartass, but I don't see Les winning another SEC Championship again while at LSU. The league is too competitive for Les now. I don't even have the expectation he will win another West Title. I would say SEC every 10 years and West every 5 and that is generous I think.

Pros: 8-10 wins a year.
Recruits well
Keeps LSU in the national spotlight
Beats the teams he is supposed to, with few exceptions
Cons: Seems to be a ceiling on the level he can take a team, without a LOT of help ('07)
Loses to teams he is supposed to lose to
Player development sucks
Too loyal to crappy assistants
Can be embarrassing to the fan base
Is exasperating.

* Hires and keeps weak assistants too long.
DING DING DING DING. (Peveto, Mallory, Lane, Yanowsky, McCarthy, Studrawa, Crowton)
Jury still out on Haley, Gonzales, Wilson and Ensminger.
Add these......
* No dedicated QB coach which the program needs.
* Weak QB and OL recruiting.
* "Unbalanced" recruiting classes that are far too heavily weighted towards speed and athleticism. Not enough "Smart football players that make plays" types. Doesn't understand that you need a good balance of both to compete for National Championships.
* Lack of discipline, organization and attention to the little details that keep a program at an elite level over the long haul.
* Questionable player personnel evaluator (Especially at the QB/OL positions)
* Embarrassingly bad public speaker.........

Just to clarify some of your points:
For your pros:
LSU is not violation-free under Miles
I don't see how anyone can honestly say right now it is realistically expected to win the West or the SEC in any time period under him anymore given the last 3 years.
Cons:
Guaranteed at least 2 losses per year. He's never proven he can lose less than 2 even in his best years.
Clock Management
Player development
Unequal Accountability
Questionable recruiting of certain positions such as QB
Requires tons of help from his Assistants and brings little to the table like a Meyer on O and Saban on D, thus requiring tons of money having to be spent on coordinators and assistants.

i think their are way to many pros on that list....and not enough cons...Face it, damn near any coach could have had his record at LSU when Saban left the cupboard full as can be...Most of the people who know and can jugde talent, (whether it be coaching or players) has seen this coming for a long time....face it the man is not a good coach....lucky is an understatement...
his inability to see that Jefferson is the worst QB to ever come out of LSU and continues to start him is beyond the stupidity of pee wee herman.....and thats enough for me to consider him the ultimate dumbass....
fire his arse and let TAF pay the bill....what you would get in one BCS game would cover it...and if you think a new coach couldnt take LSU to the BCS next year, your nuts...were loaded...

Pro: his graduation rate is great (esp reletive to previous hc's)
Con: too loyal to asst.s ; he needs to demand more from them, esp since he's a ceo type of coach. our OL coach should not be here this year. not sure about WR coach, but i'm leaning that way. as far as OC. definately a goner.

I would add to this the fact that he seldom, if ever, makes adjustments at halftime.
