Well then why don't they schedule an SEC team and prove themselves.

quote:

Boise State athletic director Gene Bleymaier is all but begging for a major opponent – any major opponent – to play his Broncos, particularly in 2011. He can hardly get his calls returned. Not by the SEC. Not by the Big Ten. Not by anyone.

quote:

Bleymaier is making a nearly unheard of offer in college football scheduling – Boise will bring its popular, high-profile, top-10 team to any stadium in any town to play any big name team in America in 2011. And they don’t have to return the date in Idaho. So far, no one has bit. ESPN has even become involved trying to broker a deal that will almost assuredly be nationally televised. Still no luck.

Didnt BSU get creamed by UGA a few years ago? Besides if they want to be recognized... spend some damn money on that Stadium so bigger schools will give a shite.

I get so sick of the "we deserve a shot" argument. So let me get this straight the voters should put you in there over a deserving school that actually played a schedule with more than JV squads because you think you need to prove something? Nah I'll pass.

Make a bid to join the PAC 12 or something.

This is one of the things that makes me dislike ESPN. It is not their job to broker this for Boise State. PERIOD.

Also, what does a top tier program have to gain by beating BSU? If they win then BSU drops hard.. if they lose then they keep getting brought up like OU does.

Thats not even a true statement or a real story. Its a link to a supposed quote on a blog. Fact is, Boise tried to get a 2011 gig with Nebraska and they would not do it without a home and home plus a 1 million dollar payout. No team is afraid to play Boise but SEC are not going to give up a home game when most every team sells those out. There is not one advantage to playing Boise. Win and you were supposed to. Lose and the whells come off plus your out the revenue from an extra home game.

First of all, this is a bullshite quote from a bullshite blog. Secondly, Fresno said the same thing 5 years ago. Everyone was sceaming about Pat Hill's comment about playing "anyone, anywhere, anytime." As soon as the big boys listened and started scheduling them they got their asses whipped and you haven't heard crap out of them since.

Boise can claim all they want to about being willing to play a major conference opponent. The fact is, unless they are willing to face a major opponent's schedule, it won't prove anything. Once they decide to schedule (and compete) with Florida, Alabama and Auburn in a 5 week span they will get the credit they are looking for, until then it means nothing.
