Miami, Notre Dame, Nebraska come to mind as running off successful coaches. Michigan basically forced theirs into retirement. How has that faired for them. How long has it taken Nebraska to recover?

Has nebraska really recovered? Although the ranters love pelini.....wouldn't his record at nebraska suggest mediocrity according to ranters? lol....

You are right about Miami, Notre Dame and Michigan...three former power houses in college football. Don't forget bama went almost two decades in mediocrity to just plain bad football going through new coaches....you don't think they had the facilities or name to get a good coach all along? lol.....Don't forget Tenn....look where they have fallen to since they got rid of their coach.....look where florida went when spurrier left them....and don't look now, but urban meyer without tim tebow running that offense.......ain't good for florida.....

The point is that NO school stays on top year after year...it just ain't happening...the key is how far you fall in your down years....so far, lsu had its worst year in 2008 and still won 8 games.....they improved to 9 wins in 2009 (and likely would have been 10 with just a decent field in the bowl game), and now they are looking at a 10 win season minimum imo.

People get way too worked up over this stuff. I am as die hard as they come, but i also realize there are a lot more important things in life at the end of the day. a 7-1 record is a damn good record, the best lsu has had in 37 years.....and if they finish strong this could be a great year.
