I would love to see #10 Shepard run the read option. Many of the holes JJ has had #10 would of scored or had big gains on. Every team in the nation runs the wildcat or some form of it, but for some reason we don’t.

he's a WR now, Les doesn't want to confuse him.

Why? SO our O Line can get him killed? We have far deeper problems on this team than who should run wildwhatever. Frankly, they have gotten the ball in space some and he has been less than impressive IMO.

there's no way you could ever prove this.

listen to any football commentator or analyst because most if not all think the wildcat fad is over. people aren't surprised anymore and, and they know how to defend it.

and they are trying to us Shepard more, did you notice all the bubble screens to him? 5 of those for 20 yards with a long of 6. he's got to do something with the ball before he gets 15+ touches a game.

I'm actually starting to like the idea of Ware as QB, Ridley as FB and Sheppard as TB with RR and TT out wide with D. Peterson at TE/H-back.
Run the triple option like Georgia Tech or Navy since we have no QB.
However, that would be LSU running the offense to fit our players which is not what LSU football is all about.

Sheppard could run that same style offense that Auburn runs. He doesnt have the size of Newton, but imagine the options he could go to.

I always thought he would be used like Burton is used at Florida, RP was used for us in 2007 (when Flynn was not hurt and RP was used more as a regular QB), or Tebow was used for Florida in 2006.

The one thing he could learn from Jefferson is that sometimes you have cut it straight up the field in the first hole you see even if it might just be a small gain and then maybe once past line of scrimmage and initial wave of tacklers try to get outside to make the big play.

JJ has gotten better in the zone read at making a quick decision on where to run and then hitting the hole fairly fast. Last year it seems RS would try to beat everybody outside when running wildcat. Not sure if that was the coach's call or if he still thinks he can outrun everybody like in high school, but he needs to run inside more and take what he can get instead of bouncing outside trying to beat everyone to the edge every play. Ingram and Cam both have made big plays taking the shotgun snap being patient, waiting for blocking to develop and then hitting inside hole quickly and then cutting outside 3 or 4 yards past line of scrimmage.

He has run inside as a rb a little, so I know he will do it. He just needs to do it more when lined up as the qb in the wildcat.

I know its heresy here, but forcing the ball to #10 is one of the many problems with our offense.

Play calling with Shep this year has been worse than last year. If they can find a hybrid bewteen this year and last year, I would be ok with it. Just because he is playing a different position doesnt mean he cant do everything he did well last year (like read option at QB and Wildcat).

If you OL cannot block, it wouldn't matter if your QB was Mike Vick - he'd still be running for his life.

It won't happen because it may just work. This coaching staff does not explore ways to improve the offense.

We have a lot of talent that needs to be used systematically. #10 just happen to be another source of wasted talent. Its a crying shame because #10 is a big play waiting to happen.
