the league wont allow it? lol. the yanks will throw about 10 million more at lee than the rangers and then he will be forced to take it. look at arod. he wanted to take less money and go to boston but the mlbpa made him take the most money and go to new york. the same thing will happen with cliff lee

When i say the league i mean the owners and what not, and im not talking about some ruling. They will just do everything back channels. They don't mind the yankees over paying for players that much. What they do mind is when teams set new precedents for how much the top players get paid. This is one of the reasons Cuban has been blocked from owning a team. If the yankees want to go give AJ Burnett 15 mil a year it won't throw things off that much, but if they give Lee 30 million dollars a year then every ace out there is gonna want that much money and its gonna bump up the payscale of every pitcher.
