It would not matter who calls the plays or what part "Smiles" plays in the game.
Fact--LSU recruits talented players with limited mental ability to grasp complicated offence or defense. Our coaching staff top to bottom cannot grasp this concept.
Any middle range high school coach could plan his game around the mental level of his players.

It's Crowton's offense. It's his style and what he runs. Les is stuck with it.
I honestly believe that Les thought that the o would improve this year with JJ being a year further along.
I watched the 07 game fri. night and it was the exact same crap we're seeing now as far as play calling except that Flynn did throw the ball downfield more. JJ started out throwing downfield this year. Remember the bomb to RR against UNC? But as the season has progressed and JJ regressed, he's gotten away from that and maybe JL's pick 6's are still stuck in LM amd GC's heads.
But I want to remind everyone that our receivers, like yesterday, have not been the most reliable ball catchers when their #'s have been called.
I think we only have 4-5 more games to suffer through with GC as OC. I also believe (and hope) that Les gets a new O line coach as well. A new D line coach wouldn't hurt either but that is not as glaring a need as the others.
And as we have seen, and as Fla. is learning, that offense is not nearly as effective without a monster qb like Newton and Tebow running it.
Take Newton out of the equation yesterday and I don't think AU wins, even as as badly as we did. The guy is better than Tebow. Tebow was just a bull-Newton is an athletic bull!
