They all use the Barrett .50 caliber too but you don't really need something quite that big at distances under 1000 to 1500 yards.

Supposedly a barrel burner. Never shot one but that is the stigma of the caliber. Heard it shoots flat as hell though

Not all "snipers" in the military use a 50 cal. Absolutely not even close to being a true statement. In fact Remington was just awarded a contract to "upgrade" some M24s from 308 to 300 Win Mag.
