With the talent that we have on defense, who is the most important player: Peterson, Nevis, Shep?

It starts at Nevis, then Shep and PP have equal impact. All incredibly valuable for us.

Tyrann Mathieu. Everyone knows what those guys can do, but Tyrann being able to lock down the other corner spot has been huge. Plus, he's forced a lot of turnovers and had many sacks or big hits.

Nevis....No question....starts up front. He demands double teams that free up the LB's and still provides presure that helps out he DB's. The man is a beast this year...so glad he lived up to the HYPE!

It's Nevis

It's an incredible advantage when you can control the line of scrimmage and basically eliminate running up tye middle. Add that to the fact that he's making TFL and getting sacks, he is invaluable.

I'd love to see someone look up how many sacks and TO's Mathieu is responsible for. He has at least 2 sacks and a couple strips of the ball. And I think an INT

It feels good to say (after a very long time) - while we have lot of play makers, there is no such "most important player" - as in team would be radically different without them!!

We only have a round table of equals! If one falters - the others pick up the slack. If one has to take a break , we have some able replacements which try to cover up as much as possible.

I would go Nevis first then Shep then PP. The amount of plays that Nevis disrupts even when he doesn't make the play is so huge

Peterson isn't even in the top 3 IMO. Dude hasn't played alot of the times the D still looks great.

Sheppard is the most important b/c of his leadership skills and knowledge for what's happening on the other side of the ball. Nevis is the biggest problem for the opponent though. He's in the backfield damn near every play

the truth is, if both shep and nevis remain healthy this d will remain good. if one or the other go down, it will be difficult to maintain this dominance.

man, all of those guys are needed. think about it, one is DL, one is LB and one is secondary. they are leaders and they completely upgrade the quality of play for their unit when they are in the game.
