He's setting it up so if Lee fails he'll be able to go back to JJ and hopefully the dude won't be a total basket case.
In light of how he accused non-appreciative fans of having unhappy marriages, yes, I suppose he does fancy himself a Dr. Phil.

It's really hard to pick up a 3rd and 8 when you run a 6 yard route
And how many times have we seen this! Why run a five yard crossing pattern on third and 8 or 9. Send Tolliver/Shepard/Randall on a sprint to the marker and square in with the ball there when the turn and it is a first down the majority of the time, provided they catch the ball. This is not a hard throw.

This is what is frustrating about all this "start Lee" mess. Clearly everyone with half a brain (including Miles) understands Jefferson's passing has to get better. But he has an actual point: stupid penalties & receivers dropping beautifully thrown balls don't help anyone playing QB, Betty White or Drew Brees included. But ya'll seem to think that somehow Miles will just flip a switch by sending some kid on a white horse into the game & suddenly all our problems disappear. That's just delusional. And all this "Lee has earned his chance or deserves his chance" is bunk: he had 2 perfect chances last season: Tech & Bama. What happened then? So now, suddenly, he's supposed to be some kind of savior for the team?
Miles is only point, which I think is a pretty good one, is that you have to fix some other things as well that will improve the QB play. But because he's not overreacting like some of you he's just stubborn and apparently doesn't want to win. The fact is neither QB is very good & he appears to be trying to work around that problem.
