didn't go to any games before the 70's, but I have been lucky enough to go to some good ones. I also would have to say that the USC game in 79 stands out. I've never seen anything like it.

It was very loud, but what was particularly notable was the sustained nature of the noise. When SCal had the ball, the noise was essentially non-stop. The entire game. It was deafening.

What a memory!

I am sorry, but a loss cannot be the greatest game in LSU history. That just doesn't work, and I was there in '79.

That was the most sickening feeling I ever had leaving Tiger Stadium. We kiscked their arse, and they got out with a lucky win. It was right up there with the sickening loss to Iowa in Saban's last game here.

For me, the greatest game I saw was Notre Dame in BR, I think in '72. We lost a 3-0 heartbreaker in South Bend the prior year, so we really wanted revenge. It was primetime national TV on Saturday night. The stadium was never louder for 4 quarters, and we totally dominated Ara Parsegian's Irish 28-8. It was the featured college game in the next issue of Sports Illustrated, and they really hyped the noise in TS as a major impact in the win.

I think that game did more to cement the reputation of Tiger Stadium than any other game in that era.

I know at least 3 doctors in town that have a picture hanging on their office walls of Tiger Stadium taken on that night. It was one of the great games.

Not the greatest, but the VT 2007 game was by far the most dominant and thorough arse-whipping of a team that finished the season in the Top 5 that I have ever seen. Not only that, but the misting rain and the paratroopers that started off the pregame were off the chain!

Thank you! I was waiting for that game to come up.

#1 Ole Miss when Billy Cannon ran back the punt...duh.

#2 LSU vs USC 1979

#3 LSU vs Florida State in the original "Fog Bowl." LSU clinches a birth in the Orange Bowl and the stadium was bombed with oranges. I guess people forget about it because they lost to Tulane the next week.

#4 Earthquake game.

#5 Set Your Clock Back 1 sec Ole Miss game.

I left off the Florida 97 game because at the time, I thought LSU was better and should win, so I was not surprised they won...I do love the fact that the LSU students took down the goal post in record time.

Honorable Mention--the 2000 Tenn OT game, the Alabama game where we finally beat them after years.

Also...Florida State in 1990. Even though we lost we beat them up and they lost the next week. Good thread.

Bring back the Magic game-Troy Twillie in the back of the endzone knocking down the pass.

greatest tiger performance i have ever seen was the domination of vatech in 07

best game... 07 florida
- tebow's calling out of the students
- 5/5 on 4th downs
- HESTER
- USC loss
- cbs's danielson having his jacket stolen
- absolute battle
- and us finishing it as number 1

MOST AMAZING NIGHT IN MY 3 YEARS OF STUDENT TICKETS!!!

In terms of sheer greatness of circumstance, I don't know how you can't go with UF 97.

UF was ranked #1 and was the defending champ.

UF had beaten LSU 9 times in a row.

LSU had beaten Vanderbilt by only 1 point the week before....nobody thought we could win.

The game was tied 14-14 in the 4th quarter, before 2 UF turnovers led to 2 LSU scores.

UF almost came back, but Jesse Palmer was picked off (again) to end the game.

It was a great game.

Ole Miss 2009. Biggest reaction after a game. We kept talking about it for months too.

We have a winner! That ND game was crazy two hours before it even started. Some dude ran onto the field just before the kickoff and planted a black flag right in front of ND's return guy (Clement?) and the destruction began.

1A: '79 USC only because it was predetermined that we would not win. My arse still hurts from that butt-raping by the zebras. Both teams played their hearts out and those of us in the stands had nothing left by the time the clock hit 0:00.

I left BR in '93 and haven't seen a home game since except for on TV. It just ain't the same as being there.

2) LSU vs. Oklahoma (NC) 2003

Without question. Simply because for the first time in the modern era, we were champions. Something I never would have dreamed possible ten years prior sitting in the student section enduring another atrocious Curley Hallman season.

I would say the same for the Saints. Winning the Super Bowl was undoubtedly the greatest game ever just because it seemed so incredibly unlikely only 5 years prior. I was in Tiger Stadium the day the Saints lost to Saban's Dolphins and Benson tried to slug a WWL cameraman. It seemed more likely the Saints would be moving to Satantonio than staying in NOLA, let alone making it to the Super Bowl, let alone winning it.

Personally, it was the '97 UF game. Although, we did lose to kentucky the next week. So, I'd have to say:
1) '03 OU
2) '07 UF
3) '97 UF
4) '03 UGA (thanks to the dude that sold me and my wife his tickets right before kickoff, because his gf wanted to watch at the bar!)
5) '59 Ole Piss. Love the old grainy tape of the Halloweeen Run!)
I guess the best loss would be the SC game, but a loss can't be the greatest game ever.
