I can remember at least three times in the WV game when, on third down, we run a pass play that is not long enough to get a first down! This has been going on for quite a while-not just WV. It is as if we always expect the receiver to get extra yards. I can't believe the receivers run bad routes that often so I have to believe Crowton is calling these routes.

What say you, Rant?

It's not that the play is designed to not get the first down. It's our qb that is choosing that route over deeper routes that would get a first down.

The unconfident QB will always throw underneath as opposed to trusting his arm with the deep routes.

It's a good philosophy to have when you're consistently completing high-efficiency passes and moving the chains one step at a time, but not on third and long.

Punts on 4th down. Just go for it like you would on a videogame.
