as 4 extra base hits, 3 doubles and 1hr since being traded to atl, in about 80 at bats. what a great pickup for a supposedly "second half player"

Did you not watch the cubs? He's about a .280-290 hitter with 20 or less homers in a good year.

Since 99 he's only had 1 season with less than 20 HRs. He only played 50 games that year.

meh, i wouldn't jump to that conclusion. he's hit in the high twenties or thirties most of his career, that dropoff also coincided with him breaking his left wrist, which is critical for a right handed power hitter. plus general aging, he's 35, not to mention he hit 35/111/.306 last season with only 530 ab's. I was more talking about his power since joining the braves. at his current rate with over 80 ab's he'd literally be averaging less than 10 homers per full season. at a time when the braves needed a big bat in the middle of the lineup more than ever, in bobby cox's last season. also he seemed to be heating up before we acquired him. you switch cities and turn into a .250 contact hitter??? wtf man, it's just frustrating...i really thought he would fill in well for CJ and we'd send bobby out with a bang

It ain't steroids. The guy is just getting older, more tired, and just doesn't have great power anymore. He put up great power a few years ago when he would have several 30+ home run seasons. That is not the case anymore.
