Your statement may be valid for print media. But broadcast media does not require any effort by the couch potato. Th segment of fans that do not read but prefer to listen are more likely to be swayed by the sentiments professed. Moreover, when the media is on (unlike print media), there could be others who are influenced - not just the primary listener, even children.

BR market can now afford more sports coverage because of the success of the program in last 10 years. Without a successful program or fan interest, there may not be a market for all of these yaketeers.

I don't mind them being negative but I can't hardly listen to most sports talk.. they're so fricking stupid

my problem with our media is that they jump on the bandwagon of negativity and ride. It would be nice if just 1 of the talk radio host would actually take the time to look at reality rather than just follow the themes of run,run,punt. Option to short side, JJ sucks, etc. Please take the time to know facts instead of just agreeing with every caller.
