We don't need WBRZ, WAFB, Hannigrif to be a mouthpiece for LSU. It's not their job to only present LSU sports in a positive light. That's not a news outlet. That's a public relations firm. Besides, Les Miles already has Jordy Hultberg for that.

Firing the woman over the hate was a bit much but I do think he has a point about whether or not Miles gives to much access. My impression from listening to media in Baton Rouge is that Miles manages to give to much so there is no mystic about what is going on behind the curtain and not enough to make the media like him. Think of it this way. There are two equilibrium points to make the media write good things about you through the level of access. Either the Pete Carrol method of open practices and basically full access to pretty much everything the team does or the Nick Saban full control of the release of information. In the first case, they love having that level of access so the team and coaching staff gets good press. In the other, they have no idea exactly what the hell is going on and as media consumers don't really have much interest in how hard it is for the media producers to do their job they tend to write good things about the team as you lose more credibility about being wrong about a bad team than being wrong about a good team. Miles may just have picked a bad point at which the media has a decent understanding of what is going on and they are pissed about the limits of their access.
