Crowton's playcalling has been very good this year. Ranters that keep ranting about his horrid gameplan are either not paying close attention or dont know much about football. Poor execution and mental mistakes killed almost every unsuccessful drive of the last two games.

The first drive of the UNC game ended on a wide-open Shepard dropping a pass. Every other drive that failed was due to penalties and turnovers.

The Vandy game showed me that Jefferson is not going through his progressions well...still. His passes are very often too low. Passes were dropped and penalties at really bad times killed drives. I really dont know how Crowton, specifically, can fix that.

I do question the use of the option when rolling out. But Blue's fumbles is not a thing that can be forseen. The read option hasn't been a bad play for LSU this year, though.

Shotgun vs I-form comments:
Some of you are questioning the shotgun but we really dont have a consistent fullback presence. The I-form looked good at the end of the game because Vandy was worn down. LSU cannot rely heavily on the I-form this year.

Truth is that no specific formation or playcalling is going to work very well if the QB can't get through progressions and the players are making constant mental errors. I believe that the plays look great. I saw open receivers all night. Jefferson never even looked in their general direction. He was also off-target.....a lot. Again, dont know what Crowton could do when these things happen....other than just run the rock....which happened quite a bit tonight.

Running JJ 11 times for 11 yards is not good playcalling. You are already thin at that position. They insist upon asking JJ to run when he is not good at it or comfortable with it. They also are taking away touches from very capable players. If the QB running is so valuable to LSU why are we not recruiting any mobile QBs. Everybody besides JJ here or being recruited is a pure pocket passer.

this is true

We only had 3 penalties vs Vandy. Poor excuse for Crowton. And most of the passes were dropped because JJ was off tonight with his accuracy. If your QB is off, and the running game is good, then stop throwing it. See 2009 La Tech game

Except for the fact that it doesn't get us anything more than 2 yards 70% of the time. Read option doesn't allow a RB to have any momentum when he gets the ball, which is what a power back like Ridley/Blue need.

Singleback and I-formation are the fundemental formations in football. So far, LSU has executed them well compared to shotgun runs (with the exception of handoffs to Shep). LSU should rely on them until other teams stop them.

Another poor excuse for Crowton. He is the QB coach as well you know. Both Lee and JJ would be great QBs if they had a good QB coach. In 2008, the defense made a lot of mental errors. I guess that wasn't Malleveto's fault though.

You dont know whos calling what play, none of us do.

With the exception of HB dive and option to the short side.

Crowton isn't going to last the season UNLESS he changes his entire philosophy and get the ball to our playmakers and stops allowing JJ to be our primary playmaker.

Les goes down if Crowton goes down...
