I only hunt NWRs, but will be hunting Alexander State Forest this season due to newly opened bow-only areas.

Any tips on hunting Loggy Bayou? I'll be hunting it for the first time this year and probably in years to come. Might be moving to Shreve this fall/winter for the next several years and am looking for good public bowhunting opportunities.
I've hunted WMA's throughout the state before, just never anything up that way.

That's an impressive deer.
I read the report from WLF about last year and they mentioned the high water made it difficult to deer hunt last year so they were expecting above average harvests as long as it stays dry.
Do you need hip boots to hunt it or are there areas accessible without them?

Public lands do have some nice bucks if you are willing to work for them. I've seen a few just haven't taken any. I shot one with the bow similar to what's in the first pic but couldn't find him. Think I jumped him that evening walking out after I shot him.
Some nice bucks I got on my camera at Sherburne.

yeah, others said that the high water washed away all the acorns in the southern half of loggy bayou.
there is a large tract of private land within loggy bayou and they may be feeding deer, just a hunch
the bridge over the bayou was damaged during the high water last year and, i think, still remains closed. So you have to have an ATV to cross the bridge and access the WMA. or just walk.
Considering the above, there was prolly less hunting pressure last year, so it could be a good year there.
BTW, it is bowhunting only at loggy bayou, except a three day gun season over the thanksgiving weekend
hip boots should not be necessary, except the occasional flood! ATV trails are well-developed

My God Rantavious I have trouble seeing words in your posts. Your Avatar is beyond words...
I think you were asking about bow hunting WMA's? I am just now getting blood flow back to my brain..
I hunt Ben's Creek, Lake Ramsey, and Pass A Loutre all occasionally as I have other places that are private I hunt.

Thanks Rantavious. No ATV for me, but walking is no problem. I mainly bow hunt, so the limited gun and muzzle loader seasons are a plus.
I appreciate the input and will update this thread with bow kills from any WMA's for this year.
