I agree with the assessment, over all, as well. Watching live just doesn't allow me to see what is going on with the line. That's what I like to watch on the re-plays.

One thing that shows up live that doesn't show up on TV is, like last year, our safety many times lines up 25 yards off of the LOS. I think that is why the TE routes over the middle went for yards. When we get our back against the goal line and we crowd in more, we play better.

That's a really good point, and by far the biggest thing we need to work on. We have to move our players around to take away the short slants. I'd much rather force them to beat us deep with our corners and the pressure we'll put on the QB than let them nickel and dime us to death.

And just to be fair, let me add, just like the 2nd half wasn't nearly as bad on first viewing, the 1st half wasn't as impressive.

We had big plays, which were great, but because of those plays, we didn't get to see the O sustain drives as much as I'd like. Because we can't always count on those big plays once we get to the SEC schedule.

Still, the signs that things had changed and the problems were addressed this offseason WERE there.

BTW, for all you idiots throwing our yardage total out there to show that our O hasn't improved, YOU CAN'T PUT UP HUGE NUMBERS ON O WHEN YOU HAVE OVER 300 RETURN YARDS YOU F'ING MORONS. Just think about it, maybe you'll understand.

LB Play was bad overall even with KS playing a good game. That is why the TE was there. Once they beat our d-line it was over to the secondary. Bama and others will exploit this regardless of who we have at LB - including Baker.
Didn't have the same nice feeling. I watched it 3 times including right after the game on Sat night.
It is all about the short pass which is predictable and will not work against fast defenses. sorry to burst your bubble.
He has to be able to set-up a play action pass, hit those out patterns, use the BIG PHYSICAL receivers like TT and not expose them to hard hits like he did Shep. Just b/c a person is open, doesn't always make it the best play. Sometimes throwing it away is the best play versus a loss or big hit on your smaller RB.
When UNC brought in those 2 starting LB's, our GAME PLAN ended. They exposed us and Crowton adn company never changed it.

I agree. The OL did better than I thought and I owe an apology to T-Bob who I railed on. He played pretty decent. Although I did see a couple plays where Hurst was just straight manhandled or burned. #90 had his way with him a couple times.

I was gonna say the same thing. Too much cushion over the middle.

Also, those slants just burned us all night. We were definitely pressing our CB's so I'm not sure how to correct this. And Brandon Taylor was out of position pretty bad in 3 or 4 plays. Mo Claiborne played better than I originally thought, minus that 97 yarder.

Nevis was in BEAST MODE in the first half. We have been waiting on that from him for 2 years and it's nice to finally see him dominate against their starting OLine. Mathieu will be special one day.

JJ did not have a bad game at all minus 2 plays. Him stepping up in the pocket during a heavy rush and keeping his eyes downfield was something new from him and led to the Randle TD.

Ridley, minus the terrible fumbles, actually ran pretty damn well. He had nice cutbacks and good burst off the line. However, he absolutely cannot let go of the football like that. Inexcusable. I didn't really watch Stampley, I guess I'll give the game another gander.

Speaking of the safeties, is #15 entrenched as a starter, or is he holding down the SS job until a better player gets healthy or till a younger player grows up?

I ask because he played a horrible 4th quarter and his mistakes were deadly. (I watched the replay and did some rewinding, freeze-framing and slo-mo examination of the two NC touchdown passes.)
