1. We recovered 3 fumbles. This is a big improvement from last year. Last year we recovered 5 ALL SEASON.
2. The punting was awesome. 0 returns for 0 yards for North Carolina. At least two punts were downed inside the 20.
3. Drake Nevis was great last year and looks to be quicker this year. He will get some All-American votes for sure.
4. Our kickoff and punt return teams have improved from last year. Duh.
5. J.J. looks better than last year although he still has plenty of room for improvement. He doesn't fumble and they didn't do that "check with me" on the sideline crap like last year.
6. Our defense is lightning fast. We will block some punts this year for sure.
7. LSU defense had 4 sacks which is on pace to set records for a season.
8. We played nine true freshman. Yes, that's right.... nine.
My glass is half full. I'm not even gonna mention one mistake because they were mainly mental. If players all hold themselves accountable this could be a fun season to watch. After watching the replay last night I feel much better about the season. Fire away negatigers.

I'm not as optimistic as you but those are good observations.

This. As much as fans on the rant bitch and moan about coaching, schemes and play calling, it always comes down to this...

Am I going to line up and beat you? Or line up and allow you to beat me?

I think these 4 points are not appreciated that much.

Punting and punt coverage was really good and the kickoff has improved as well.

NC didn't lose much on Offense and our D did a good job (*not just in comparison to last year but on an absolute scale) with regards to the fumbles and the sacks.

I honestly can't remember the last time LSU had a kicker that could consistently get the ball to the endzone (or close to it).
Our special teams as a whole will win many games for us.
Beamer Ball, anyone?

While the special teams were the obvious positive, if you're looking for another: line play. Our offensive line looked light years better than last season's atrocity. We'll see how they perform against a top defense, but that was an encouraging performance.

This. There was a lot of things I saw watching the replay. The one thing that scares me again is the Oline.

Yep he is in over his head because he looked to run the clock out with a 13 point lead in the 4th quarter and his RB fumbled.

Any good coach can keep that from happening.

but if Butch was such a good coach how come his Te couldn't catch a game winning TD with two shots at it?

Hell by your standards the only good Coach left is Saban, because Florida was ugly yesterday

Had to add number 8 to my original post. I feel that this team has the WANT to kick Vandys arse.

I agree with your post, but this point looks a little odd:

Defense doesn't typically block punts...

Defensive players do. Special Team don't typically consist of an entirely new squad of 11
