there is a bit of a firestorm gathering about this...

THIS is quite a good commentary on it.

I liked the time issue. We freely use the Titanic as a metaphor of failure no matter how many perished. BUT there is some sort of time etiquetee. Say 75 years after every person associated with such a disaster is dead.

I hate when people generate a "movement" to get somebody fired over a comment. Just take it that you know he is a douche and move on.

@TheStanisback Vikings will get crushed (again) like a cheap minny bridge. WAH WAH WAH

Vikings defense needs to hit Drew Brees on every single play even when he doesn't have the ball in his hands, they should try to hurt him intentionally just like Saints did to Favre last year with all those cheap shots.

I hope Vikings defense will end his season at the metrodome next Saturday.

GO VIKES!!!!!!

Come on guys.

The comment shouldn't have been made.

But I don't wish a guy to lose his job over a mistake.

I tend to think he knew what he was doing when he said it; I had no clue who he was before the comment.

I loved reading the comments talking about his first amendment right. Are people really that stupid to not understand the right granted by the first amendment? If he's fired, maybe he'll learn to not be so stupid if he gets another job.

Only you can control if you allow someone else's comments to offend you. Give him the power.

What a meathead.

Email sent. I'd hate to hear his thoughts on the Boise St vs Va Tech game tonight.

He'll probably say that Boise St. should go in there with their guns blazing.

These figs got his boss's assistant to write an apology. I was one of those fans that he was talking about that was at the '06 NFCCG that saw those signs and had my wife and my buddies wife called sluts and whores by the bears fans. He goes so far to defend these people too. What a frickin douche he and PFW are!!!!!

Here's my email.

I am writing you to express my disgust and shock at the comments made by Dan Hampton regarding Hurricane Katrina and the upcoming Viking-Saints game. These comments are rude, thoughtless, and completely inexcusable. Such a reference to the worst natural disaster in US history is no different than a reference to 9/11 and New York, for which I am sure Mr. Hampton would lose his job. Even more disturbing is the fact that last week marked five year anniversary of the storm that nearly destroyed one of America's greatest cities, and the new was full of references and remembrance of this truely horrific event.

The rebuilding of New Orleans is a testament to the perseverance of its residents and leaders. New Orleans is a true example of a melting pot and community that pulls together in a time of crisis. The great people of the City of New Orleans and the entire Gulf Coast have repeatedly shown their resolve in hard times, and should not be subjected to such thoughtless and insensitive comments. As such, Mr. Hampton should be dealt with accordingly. He owes the city of New Orleans more than some mere words of apology. He should make some substantive gesture for his comments, and possibly suffer a suspension.
