Kiffin Blames the Poor Defense on the News

Never mind the fact that the news knew more about Hawaii's offense than the Kiffins did going into Wednesday.

It turns out the Trojans did not know the Warriors would be running the "Pistol" offense — a spread attack in which the running back lines up behind the quarterback — until defensive boss Monte Kiffin saw it on the news Wednesday night.
"So we spent all morning changing things and preparing for it," said Lane Kiffin. "I guess that shows we should never watch the news, because the preparation didn't do any good."

The announcing team was trying to give the Kiffin's the benefit of the doubt for this as well
Gimme a fricking break

Just admit it was a terrible showing and move on.

No worries Fusky. We'll be ready for you.

Why? That's actually pretty hilarious. And people give Miles shite...

I hate to sound like a Kiffin homer but a lot of those mistakes (poor angles, DB's not spotting the ball) are fixable - and relatively quickly.
Barkley looked so incredibly poised and good with his reads, and their RB looked so patient and smart with his holes that I think USC will be a tough out for anybody on their schedule.
This is going to be a team that will be incredibly tough to beat in the next 2 years if Kiffin retains all that talent and can keep convincing blue chippers to head to L.A.

I actually like USC. I just find a lot of humor in the Lane Kiffin show.

Terrible mistake hiring this crab. 588 yards to Hawaii and that is your excuse.

I don't understand how knowing Hawaii was going to run the pistol and preparing for it would make the defense worse

Kiffin will recruit like a mofo and get his kids fired up to play. I guarantee you unless he's preemtively axed by Haden that he will win more BCS titles at USC than Carroll did. Guarantee you.
If anybody is in over their head it's Pat Haden.

Did you watch last nights game? Would you let your son play for Kiffin?

me neither.
It's not like they saw it on the news, prepped for it, then Hawaii didn't run it.

Haden is a choir boy who only got the job because of his squeaky clean image and USC's desperation to bring somebody wholesome on board.
17 and 18 year old kids love Kiffin. You're blind if you don't see far more good than bad in their performance last night.
That defense will be like night and day by the end of the year.

Carroll rebuilt the program, Kiffin is probably a better game day coach. His offensive playcalling was pretty much flawless.
We will see what kind of adjustments he makes on Defense, because Monte did not have his shite in one sock. Or maybe he did, that depends...

Bottom line - Unless Tony Dungy-wannabe Pat Haden axes Lane Kiffin for "ethics violations" or some off-field shite I guarantee you that Lane Kiffin will hold up more BCS crystal balls at USC than Petey boy did.
Do you accept the friendly wager?

Haden was a rhodes scholar, has a law degree, ran a very successful venture capital firm, and has been a trustee at SC for years.... if there was ever someone who was qualified to handle the business and sports aspects of running an athletic department, it's him, especially compared to Mike Garrett
