I think most of them would point out the town of Mount Airy. Which is near Pilot Mountain (remember, Mount Pilot in the Andy Griffin show?) Mount Airy even has an Andy Griffin Parkway.

I was informed at the 1984 Final Four that a Tar-Heel was a person who got manure on their shoe. Is that really what it is? There is also the story that the troops got their name "Tar Heels" from their hesitation to advance in battle. They would stand there like they had tar on their heels.

Finally, during my time spent in North Carolina, I was repeatedly reminded that this play probably cost UNC the championship. FYI Jordan acted like a thug.
