I've probably climbed it 10 times...good hike. If your're in the park at night, go see the laser show.

Yeah it's great. I live 10 mins from the park. You will have a great time. Stone Mountain is a great park and very safe. Enjoy your time in Atlanta.

I went there for the peachbowl in Jan 09. It was really nice. We stayed at the Marriott resort and had a view if the mountain from our room.

...except for the dude that fell over the side to his death last year. But other than that it's safe!

I've done it easily a couple of hundred times over the years. I live pretty close to it. It's a good work out, but you can stop lots of places to take a break if you want. (many big rocks to sit on and one covered pavillion about 2/3 of the way up.)

According to the park calender, the only thing open friday is the museum and the skyride.

I've never done the hike but I have played the golf courses a couple of times when I was interning in ATL. Pretty nice layouts if you want to get a round in.
