So you left for work. Good for you. No one said don't or you are an arse for doing it. Fact is that you do not pay taxes to the state of Louisiana anymore. PERIOD. You are no longer a resident of the state, yet expect the state to give you a handout because you graduated from LSU.
What most of you choose to ignore is its this "family" mentality that has screwed the state of Louisiana on so many levels when it comes to state funding. LSU needs to do what is best for LSU. If there was so much "family" connection as you say, LSU alums would be giving more money to LSU rather than the TAF. Plain and simple.
Worst alumni donations in the entire SEC, yet highest or top of the ladder for donations to the athletic department. Got to love the priorties of Almuni.
Again, LSU is cutting budgets. This should've been cut way before now. There is no reason for it and other schools including the likes of Texas and UGA don't give that kind of break to out of state alumni.

I agree with most of your points, however, I saw this as more of an incentive on LSU's part to attract these potential students back to Louisiana, vs. an alum looking for a handout. LSU evidently believed there was a benefit in getting these students back...
My question still is, what is the net gain by cutting this program? How were these students' costs subsidized?

If TAF wouldn't control tickets then a lot more people would give to LSU.

I'm amazed we're in the middle of the pack of the SEC in endowment to begin with.

So get rid of TAF like Vandy did...do you not think that TAF money is real money going to LSU? Do you even have a point? I don;t expect a hand out, I can afford it. It's just bad buss. for LSU to get rid of the program for the reasons I stated. I dont know whether UT or UGA have similar programs, but i know a lot of schools do.

Does it cost more for LSU to educate an out-of-state student versus and in-state student? How is LSU/LA losing money by charging an OO student the in-state rate if the costs are the same? Educating a kid from Austin, TX has got to be the same, cost wise, as educating a kid from Leesville, LA...
