I talked to Richard and depending on how this season goes, he may ask for a medical shirt.
He will have to show that his first redshirt year was due to injury.

his first redshirt was due to the fact that the ncaa didnt clear him until training camp was over.

I'm no expert, but I don't think that's gonna work.

Lester Earl is not one to listen to about RBs. I may not be much either, but at least I admit so. It will burn Lester Earls buttocks if Ridley is successful. Who knows ??? But LE will find something to put down all RBs since KW was not a first round NFL pick !!!

I didnt realize a medical redshirt depended on a previous redshirt? What about people who play for 6 years, they received medical redshirts didnt they? I was under the impression that if a player loses a year to an injury, that he could apply for a medical redshirt regardless if he already redshirted... I could be wrong though

EX. I dont exactly what the circumstances were, but Charles Alexander, Kirsten Pittman, Jason White of Oklahoma, they all played an extremely long time due to medical redshirts...

meaning that FORD and Ridley will get 70% of carries up the middle, then RM comes in from time to time for outside, quick yards?

I think our RB success will vary depending on who we're playing. A small defense might be more succeptible to pounding it with Ridley, where as Murphy might have better success against a different style D. They will both get their carries, and whoever is hot will roll. Where Ford fits in, I dont know yet

Lost 2 seasons due to injury.

Saying "medical redshirt" is really not descriptive. Basically, it only has meaning in limited situations. With Murphy, we are talking about a 6th year which is difficult to get, and cannot be obtained if the player used 1 "regular" redshirt already. See below:

quote:

An eligibility extension (not sure if this is the correct term) is the granting of a 6th year for the player to have the opportunity to complete his 4th year of competition. To receive a 6th year a player must prove that he was only able to play 3 seasons in 5 years due to circumstances beyond his control. A voluntary redshirt does not count, nor does not getting on the field because the coach simply didn't play him. The most common reason for an eligibility extension is that the player missed 2 years due to injury, but it could be for other reasons. In women's sports I believe pregnancy qualifies / i.e. a female student athlete who misses one season due to injury and another season to have a baby could receive a 6th year.

Thanks for info, good to know. Although he might have a chance, since the NCAA held him up his first year. 50-50 maybe.....

good; I think Ford will also be a homerun hitter, but I'm hoping RM could be an everydown back and take it up the middle just like the rest. But I want to see some mixtures of the three.

so r u saying that someone from ur school that is palying for ur favorite college, that u wouldnt support them. I not being stupid for thinking he is going to do well becuz i kno way more about whats going on then you do. I just think with our current RB situation and everythin he has been through and how hard he has worked he will be something that LSU havent seen in a while.

You guys know he pulls for Murphy I dont get why he gets shite everytime, let him be already. .

Its really not any different than people proclaiming Ford the golden child while not playing a real down of CFB.
