Emmitt is a quality human being. Most hate him because he took the high road and didn't partake in the excesses of his Cowboy teammates like Irvin. He walked the straight and narrow instead. The haters don't like him because he is everything they will never be.

Yeah, not smoking crack and being a party animal are why he's seen as a selfish a-hole that wouldn't do a damn thing without receiving $ in the process.

I've heard Emmitt is a complete douche from people around here in Dallas. I could care less though. He was a hell of a RB and even better source of comedy.

I thought Irvin's road was the high road.

I dunno about straight and narrow, but he did walk a couple of dinner tabs (not bar tabs - DINNER tabs) at a Las Colinas establishment where I was employed from 1999-2001 (After the 2nd incident - the valets were instructed not to give him his car keys until they got an OK from management).
FWIW - As much as I disliked him on so many levels... Irvin's HOF speech absolutely blew me away. One of the most amazing pieces of public speaking I've ever witnessed. It actually made me allow the possibility for a change in my opinion of the man... Something I never thought I'd be capable of.
