Actually he lost 11 in combined seasons 3 years running.
Not saying he's a shitty coach, but you people way over-rate Saban, and don't give Miles enough credit.

Saban coached before he came to LSU
1995 Michigan State 6–5–1
1996 Michigan State 6–6
1997 Michigan State 7–5
1998 Michigan State 6–6
He has a 9-2 year when LSU hired him.
