What our fantasy league does, is use the past year's fantasy stats to play with. We start and play and finish about the same time as the current MLB season.

I just renjoined the league this season (one of the managers had to quit for me to do this because its a keeper league).

However many at bats a player has the past season, he has in our league the upcoming one (rounded up 50).

Pitchers are limited to however many starts or relief appearances they had the previous year to the exact number. The exception is if their ERA was over 5.5, then you can double that number but there is a limit of 34 starts or 70 appearances with that rule. (this is to help teams who are short with starts or relief help.)

EX: Manny ramirez last season (not this current one) had 352 AB (not including walks obviously), for my current season, i get to use him for 400AB's and it uses last years percentages .290 avg, .418 on base and power numbers (of course park and weather also play into HRs and doubles and so forth)

This makes players who have only part times duties for teams (like 100ABs a season) but have great averages or power against lefties, VERY valuable as subs or pinch hit.

Oswalt last year didnt miss a start, so he wont miss a start for me either.

There are TONS of variables though, like if a player is "prone" to injury, there are plenty of times he'll get "hurt" on a play and miss the next 3 games. Our league allows us to reset injuries at the end of each series though.

If anyone was really interested in checking it out, i could email you a trial copy of the game, its legal and its only like 10MB worth of files. It takes maybe a couple of minutes to install.
