The equipment is currently on a research vessel and ready for deployment.
They have several different tools to use and they are pricey.
Image analyzers, Video Plankton Recorders, etc..
NOAA called around to various professors last wed looking for this type of equipment to borrow. Several folks at LSU and other universities have the equipment however not the kind for those depths. Last I heard some equipment was being sent in from Ireland.
