I don't usually watch the "dog" movies, because most of them are over the top players of the emotional strings or over the top displays of cheese. However, after reading good reviews of this movie and seeing that IMDBhas it rated at 8.1, I decided to give it a shot.

It is a fantastic film!

It's a true story about a dog whose owner dies, and that dog goes to the train station every day waiting for his owner to come home from work. It has Richard Gere and Joan Allen, 2 reputable actors, along with recognizeable faces throughout the movie.

I highly recommend this whether you're a dog film fan or not, for it really is a good story and a well made movie. And yes, it will make you cry. I haven't shed a tear like that since Gibson the Fuhrer yelled freedom at the end of Das Braveheart.

If you have seen this, I am curious as to your thoughts. Maybe I just got sucked into an emotional manipulator, but I don't think so.

My wife made me watch it last night and my eyes were bloodshot from trying to hide my tears. I think she is at work today still crying. This movie made her cry more than any other she has ever watched. I liked the movie a lot too.

What was different about this movie than other tear jerkers was the longevity with which they were able to make it sad. The second the master died, every scene made you want to cry. It felt like forever. What made it worse was the fact the dog couldn't understand he wasn't coming back like a human could. I felt way worse for the dog than I did the wife.

Got this from Netflix a few weeks ago on the OP's suggestion. Glad I did.
