The question isn't what sport has the best athletes. Its what sport produces the best athletes, what I mean by this is what sport's training requires turns you into a great athlete.

I say its the combat sports(Boxing MMA KickBoxing) and if I had to just pick one out of the 3 it would be Boxing(fights are 3x as long as K1 and UFC).

I still maintain that Tennis is by far the greatest combination of athleticism and skill. To be great you must be in peak physical condition while also possessing an unusual amount of skill as well.

Do you ever stop to think why that might be?

Wrestling takes way more energy than boxing

athleticism is hard to define and can vary in meaning from person to person.

outside of a few positions, i think football produces the best pure athletes

what type of boxing are you watching?? the LONGEST boxing match is a 12 rounder with 3 min per round. that's 36 min. the SHORTEST ufc fight is 3 round at 5 min each round. that's 15 min and not all boxing matches are 12 rounds. UFC fighters exert way more energy in their fights as compared to boxers IMO.

Have you ever tried to fight for 5 minute rounds though? That shite is extremely difficult. Pride used to have a 10 minute round......... go see if you can come close to hitting a heavy bag for 10 minutes straight.

The combination of skill and technique required to be great, while difficult to recognize for an untrained eye to recognize, is off the charts. Even college wrestlers have to eat, sleep and breathe their craft to get to that level...virtually nobody is "born with it." The ones who compete at World Championships and the Olympics are absolute machines

Then there is part more obvious to the outside observer...the strength and stamina required. Anybody that has ever wrestled with their brother for 20 seconds understands this
