Panicing this early is stupid. The only team essentially eliminated as of today is the Baltimore Orioles.

This is the third year in a row the bats have gotten off to a slow start. Is it time to make a change at hitting coach? I loved Terry Pendleton as a player, but perhaps it's time for him to find another gig.

I've got MLB At Bat (radio broadcasts) this year for the first time, and I've listened to a lot of Orioles games.

I know you know this already, but this team is not nearly as bad as their record would reflect. (or at the very least they show a lot of hope for the future IMO).

Wieters is having a very good year. Wigginton has caught fire lately. Makarkis is pretty much out of his beginning-of-the-year slump. Jones is going to get out of his slump. I like what I saw (heard) from Hughes over the weekend.

And, on the mound, solid performances from Millwood and Guthrie. Lots of promise from Matusz and dare I say, Hernandez.

I'm new to following the team, but it seems their biggest weakness is bullpen. Do they have anything coming up in the minors?

Exactly.

5 of the 9 Atlanta regulars in the lineup are batting under .190. No way in hell that can stay the same so you have to expect the hitting to pick up as the season goes on. Do the Braves need another bat in a big way? Absolutely and hopefully that comes mid season but until then, the team just needs to start playing baseball better which means just being able to hit behind the runner or put the ball in the outfield with a runner on 3rd base and simple stuff like that. Every single run matters on this team with the pitching staff that we have so we just need to do the small things better.

Things will pick up though. Let's take 2 out of 4 against the Cards then take care of business against the Stros and Nats and we'll be fine. Come back in a month or month and a half and maybe I'll be panicing then.
