I think we're all going to be pleasantly surprised this year. I liken our situation to that of a basketball team who has shot poorly from the field, been outrebounded and had many turnovers but still trails the game by only a few points.
The LSU football version of this bball analogy is a 9-3 record with the 112th ranked offense in 2009, the worst that any of us have ever witnessed.
If we can get a mediocre performance from our offense, assuming the defense remains about the same or slighly improved, I dont see why we cant better our 09 record. I realize our QB situation is far from ideal, as is our lines. However, Im actually excited to see what this team full of young talent can do, what this coaching staff can do. Here's to a big year!

No. You're not an idiot. But if you were, I am sure it is covered somewhere in the new Health Reform bill.....

Here's what it boils down to: Until LSU can field a QB that opposing coaches respect, LSU is in a world of hurt.
Just my opinion, but if I were game planning against LSU, I would focus 95% of my defensive effort on stopping the run game (i.e., force the QB to beat me). A likely result: LSU would pick up 0-2 yards per run play, the offensive line would look bad, 2nd and 3rd-and-longs will come often, and third-and-short would be LSU's achillies' heel. LSU's defense should be improved, but how could you tell when they're on the field 3/4 of the game due to an anemic offense?
Unless any of LSU's QB's perform well above expectation, this team will finish somewhere between 6-6 to 8-4. Very little improvement, if any, from last year.

Chris Tolliver was making some sort of idiotic hand gesture and BG called him out for it. No big deal

Exactly. With no threat of a vertical game we are in deep shite.

The O-Line is going to be physical this year and we will run the ball. I think one of the keys to making the offense better is better utilization of the tightends. When opponents stack the box, Crowton never calls plays to the TE. Just with a better O-Line and running game this will be a great year.

This will be a very good year and an exciting football team. The offense will be improved.
The o-line will be improved, running game improved, full back position improved, and wr core will be equal to or possibly better than last year. The qb play may not be as improved as we would like, however, we were 9-3 with this same qb last year w/o a full back or a quality offensive line. Shepard as wildcat qb, and ford at rb will give additional dimentions to the offense. with ford at r.b. a defense doesn't know if we are running inside or outside. it was clear with scott and trindon.
defensively, the only question in my mind is stopping the run. if lsu is able to do this, they wont be a good defense. the will be a great defense. our pass rush appears to be improved, the defense end position appears to be improved. we will be more athletic and have more speed at the lb position, and we will have one of the best secondaries in the country.
stop the run, good pash rush, great secondary, equals big turnover margin.
special teams appear to be strength once again.
i'm a person that believes you don't need great qb play to be a good f.b. team. Just be very good in all the other phases of the game.
this team appears to be a more hungry team. a lot of young talented player eager to play. they will make some mistakes, however, their energy and talent will make plays as well.

Both JJ and JL need one more year until they are ready to play QB.

Someone with some sense. that is what teams have been doing to lsu the last year and a half. JJ took 34 sacks last year. Lee had interception problems obviously the year before, but only took 8 sacks. don't give me that statement that the line sucked. They may have not been good, but just how damn good can you be when teams load the box against you and stop the run and you got a guy who can't make you pay at qb. People blame less, the line, coaches in general, etc. People this is the SEC. If you can't make a team respect your passing game, and make them pay when they don't respect it, you are in a world of hurt. I find it remarkable that lsu won 9 games last year. I do disagree with your assessment of the Tigers record next year. they will not be any worse for sure at qb. I think every other position will improve, and some will improve by a lot. OL will be much better, rb's (imo) will be better, WR will probably have the most talent on a starting wr group in the nation. DL will be greatly improved. LB should be as good, and backfield will get better in my opinion with the addition of loston and the experience of the other returners and PP...plus a pass rush will help db's even more. So, yes it is all up to the qb play, but I have to believe it will be improved this year over last, and the Tigers could very easily end up 10-2 or 11-1. Remember, with that HORRIBLE offense last year, they were very close to winning 10-11 games.

Ehh it could happen. I think ever since 07 we expect to win a championship every year, and that's just not realistic. I really believe that this year will be better. If we can win 9 games (should have been 10) with a HORRIBLE offense and OL then I certainly think we can win 10 or 11 with an improved OL and months more of practice for our QBs. Comeon guys let's give them a break and have a little faith. I know they read the site....don't forget they are still kids. Let's lift them up and build confidence. They need our support!
