Everything on the dollar menu ends up 1.09 after tax.

That's the sale price. They obviously are using it as a loss leader in hopes of selling you a $1.50 soft drink that costs them next to nothing.
Burger King franchisees have been pissed at Burger King over the $1 double cheeseburgers because they supposedly don't make any money on it, but BK keeps pushing it because Americans are lard asses that need to wash down a double cheeseburger with a double whopper, fries and a shake.

the computer tells them what to do....thinking on their own would be too hard.
