2001 was one of my favorite teams to watch. The games always went down to the wire (except Kentucky), and the team played their scrawny asses off like no other LSU team I've seen.

I was talking about this just this morning. Brady got more out of his teams those several years than anybody in the country could have. Those dudes played their asses off.

I wonder why that happened? Was it because in the beginning those guys hadn't ever had the taste of success? We also didn't have a tremendous amount of talent then. In Brady's latter years, we had won the SEC, reached the final 4 and had a few McDonalds All Americans sprinkled in with a couple high profile recruits.

2001 was probbly Brady's best coaching job, just as 2010 may go down as Trent Johnson's best job. Both coaches kept their teams together during adversity, both teams played hard to the end and won their final home game. The 2001 team upset NCAA bound Georgia in the SEC tourney. I beleieve the same thing will happpen to Tennesse on Thursday.

And the next year they had practically nobody (way to go, Kwame ) and snuck into the NIT. I thought that was a good coaching year on his part, too.

The next two years (9-7 + 8-8 in the SEC) were a little stale; I thought LSU should have been better.
