Hopothetical question regarding camps

If a booster/alumnus monitarily helps a player attend a camp. Say, for instance, pay the camp fee. It could be any camp, baseball, basketball, football, whatever. Is that an NCAA violation?
Again, hypothetically, the school would like to see the kid but is unsure if they want him/her. What if the school does not sign or offer the player?

It voids the kids eligibility, bottom line.

Congratulations on ruining the future of a potentially great athlete.

Dont do it....I'm sure these kids have spare time to get a job and earn the money.
I mean cutting grass is big business for some people, as much as the camp fee.....

The reason it came up is because a person I know was bragging he paid the camp fee for a player to attend a camp at an SEC school. He happens to be an alumnus of that school. (its not LSU and the sport wasn't football)

Tell your friend that he just put that kid in a bad spot. Unless its the parents, I dont think the kid can accept any kind of gift from anyone. (Im not an authority and I could be wrong, but Im fairly certain about this).

Yep, no gifts, no fee's, no lunches, no sodas, no sweatshirts, if you have to ask, its prob a violation of NCAA rules.
I am paraphrasing, but according to the rules the athlete is not to accept or receive and benefit that would alter his amateur status.

Not appropriate to pay it, but why then brag about it? Lot's of people who really want to help do these things, but they stay shup up about it. They don't want to bring attention to themselves.
