1958 was my freshman year at LSU, I went to LSU track meets all the time. I saw him run a 9.4 (wind aided) at LSU. He regularly ran 9.5 hundred yard dashes. Bobby Morrow of Abeline Christian College Texas was the Olympic champion 100 (meters). He ran 9.3 hundred yard dashes in America at the same time as Billy Cannon was running track. I met Billy Cannon at the LSU track because my room mates father was the head of the LSU Chemistry Dept. and as many of you know Billy Cannon was a Doctor of Dentisty, a pretty smart guy!
