Can he catch?

Just watched his Sr. highlights and all I can think of is WR. Kid has some serious speed and damn quick feet.

That's just my thoughts when I watched his film. I know they mentioned Safety but damn.....he looks like an offensive player to me.

Yes he can

I agree with you, but the depth there now maybe a bit much so I think he will see the field at free safety

Also I wish his hips were more fluid, because he would make a great corner with his catching ability

He seems like he'll be a pretty versatile guy. Had they not signed 4 receivers this year I'd say he'd have a shot there.

Hell, he still might. I like him though..he's got the athleticism necessary to mold him into something.

I hope Sam is really really good not just for obvious reasons but because Bama and Auburn fans bashed him saying he got no offer from us yada yada...

From what I have seen, Sam Gibson has good size. He is a hard, strong runner with power. He will readily take on contact. He is explosive, with very quick acceleration; he gets up to top gear in just a few steps. His top end speed is not great, but good. He played QB so he must have good hands. Moreover, he played primarily out of the shotgun; the coaches trusted him with the ball. One criticism is that if he is not at top speed, he appears to be a little sluggish when moving laterally. If he is running downfield at top speed, he can cut on a dime and make people miss; but if he is just beginning to get his feet moving and he is going lateral, he appears slower. This may be an issue if he plays S. When he is anticipating then makes a break, can he move quickly enough to the sidelines to help out the CB? I'm not saying he won't, its just an area that I would want to see how he would perform in practice. The previous comment about his hips not being very fluid is an accurate one. He has size, speed, acceleration, and appears to have good hands. So yea, I think he could be a WR.
