many say that he will be the next great DT, but I get the feeling he will stay at DE. He can tone up a bit and keep his weight around 270 and play DE.

Considering he ran a 4.6 at 270lbs...I'd like him to stay at DE where he probably can utilize that speed better.

I think there was an article a while back where he said that he wanted to play DE.

I don't think he really has an interest in DT.

Pardon me for stating the obvious...but here I go. Yes, LSU supposedly promised Ferguson that he could stay at DE and that's mainly why we got him. However, as we have seen with Russel Shepard, once a kid gets on the team and they see the depth chart, the conversation goes something like this:

(Sometime during the fall practices in August) the Coaches will be speaking to Ego:

Jr., you can see that we are really deep at DE, there are some guys that have more experience than you and are, quite frankly, just as good as you are. And, you will either share minimal playing time or ride the pine this year.

However, if you want guaranteed playing time in your freshman year...over here we have the DT position, which you have played in High School...

Now we can keep you at DE and you may or may not play, but if you continue to practice hard and do well, come September, you will be in the DT rotation and playing this year at DT because that is where we need you due to the "team" being thinest at DT on the defensive line.

Now, what do you say?

I say he makes the choice to be a player as a freshman and switches to DT with the option to move back to DE later.

You have to admit he would make a good O-lineman.

If he's really 270 right now, I say he ends up at DT. Plus, one website lists him at 4.9, not 4.6.

Eventually settles in at DT IMO.
