I think this is a pretty interesting situation. All season, it was assumed by many of us that Williams would get another shot at a head coaching job next year and would only be around in New Orleans for the 2009 season. But there obviously aren't any NFL head coaching jobs available this late in the game. Do you think it's safe to assume he'll be back next year? Or do you think he'll take a shot at rebuilding another team's defense as DC? I realize this is all speculation since (as far as I know) there hasn't been any media discussion of this yet.

I would definitely bet on him being back next year, how many head coaching jobs are available right now? How many has he been mentioned for? From his quotes this week, he likes Payton, Brees, and this team and wants to be here awhile.

could it come down to Benson bumping his pay to make staying even more attractive?

There really aren't any jobs open anywhere now in the NFL or college.

And when asked about his aspirations of becoming a head coach again, he said, "If I ever dumb down and do a head coaching job again, that's great. But it's not first on my list of things to do. As long as Drew Brees is playing and Sean Payton's coaching here, I could see myself coaching here for a long, long, long time, because I like coaching."
