Media Observation About The Championship Game

I must vent a little. I knew the media would go gaga this week after the Vikings handily beat the Cowboys, but I had no clue it would be this bad. Less than two days after the Saints trounced the reining NFC champs by 31 points and held an offense that had scored 50 plus the prior week to only 14, EVERYBODY’s still picking the Vikes to beat us. Apparently, it won’t even be close. I have been doing a bit of reading and I’ve learned that Jared Allen will defend the Saint’s offense by himself and hold us to a field goal. Brett Favre is going to throw 9 touchdown passes to Sydney Rice’s quadriplegic aunt Ree-Ree. Adrian Peterson will rush for 647 yards and 6 scores without ever leaving the team jet.
I’m joking a little of course, but it IS truly bad. I actually read an article this morning that said Brett Favre is clearly the better QB in this game because he unretired to win a championship, therefore he “wants it more”. Besides, he grew up only one hour from New Orleans so this is practically a home game for him, right? Damn. I’m glad I read this article, because all year I had been duped into thinking that Brees actually wanted to win a Superbowl. I was fooled again because, according to ESPN, Saints fans will be rooting for Favre because he grew up in Mississippi!
Other things I’ve learned from the talking heads:
Reggie won’t have 2 good games in a row, but Sydney Rice will.
Jared Allen will paint the dome red with Jermon Bushrod’s blood.
Favre won a Superbowl in the dome in 1847, therefore this is a home game: Advantage Vikes
The Cowboys were 100x better than us: Vikes roll by 40+
Darren Sharper forgot everything he ever knew about Favre or the Vikings offense.
Pat Williams will eat all three of our pro-bowl linemen for Breakfast and have Zack Strief for Brunch
Even though the Vikes are .500 on the road this year with victories over such juggernauts as St. Louis, Detroit, and Cleveland, Favre will Favry Favre farver farvy favre
The Vikings lost by two touchdowns to Arizona and three touchdowns to Carolina, but Favre is from Mississippi so this cancels out.
Jared Allen and Demarcus Ware are the only two elite pass rushers in the NFL. Will Smith is an actor who starred in “Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
The Saints can stop Larry Fitzgerald, Randy Moss, and Terrelle Owens but we have no answers for Percy Harvin.
The “Bring the Wood” baseball bat was the only reason we beat the Cardinals.
Vegas likes us by 3.5 in the early lines (this is all that really counts as far as I’m concerned). Don’t get me wrong….I like flying under the radar a little, but these guys are not getting the respect they deserve and I’m just glad we will have the chance Sunday to retire Favre…… at least until after 2010 training camp when he “unretires” again.
OK, I’m done. I feel better now.

A -3.5 line for the home team means basically that Vegas feels its a pick'em. Home field is automatically a 3 to 4 point bump.
That said, it really is a toss up and will depend on which team shows up on each side.

last week the cards were on fire. watch out for the cardnals! most of them saw the points their offense put up....but forgot about how many their defense gave up. if we ever had a chance for the supe...this is it.

Let the media keep propping the Vikings. It will make the victory that much sweeter.

Last week it was the same thing being said for the Vikings against the Cowboys. Everyone was slobbering over the Cowboys and claiming they were on fire and the best team in the NFC.
Fact is that nobody knows until the 2 teams get on that field.
Favre barely got hit in the game against Dallas and they got very little pressure on him overall. Just wait until they are dealing with the fans screaming when they are on offense and NOT when they are on defense.

Oh and one last thing, Dallas moved the ball on the Vikes consistently early on and just choked when they had the chance to score. Once Adams went out, that's when the Vikes DL took over and the Romo effect set in. The game was actually MUCH closer than the final score indicated.

This is what I findd most perplexing. The people who say this are supposedly "experts", experts for crying out loud, and they try to use the fact that this is where Favre won his first Superbowl, and that he was born 60 miles away as reasoning behind why the Vikings will win. Any coach, player, assistant coach, cheerleader, ball-boy, towel-boy knows that this shite plays no part at all in the outcome of this game. EXPERTS!

Much of the week has been a Favre love fest. Seems like everyone has forgotten Drew Brees plays for us.

Well as far as I'm concerned Farve doesn't have the packers backing him this time.
