He was the HEAD COACH... not the Offensive Coordinator.

This is overused with veteran coaches (ie. Steve Spurrier). Ya think they re-invented the wheel on the gridiron?

That ever-popular "wildcat" formation isn't new, for one thing.


Crowton brought the spread passing attack to the South. Everybody does it to some extent now and DC's know how to stop it. He had to reinvent himself and now he is just average to below-average.

Gus Malzahn invented the Wildcat... now everyone does it... now everyone will learn to stop it and Gus Malzahn will be Gary Crowton in 2 years.

The wildcat is the old single wing so Malzhan did not invent.
