If you have been drinking bourbon or whiskey, Johnny Walker Black is a really good first crossover (blended scotch). The single malt scotches like Glenlivit or Glenfiddich take a little more getting used to, IMO

ETA-I have gotten to that point, and have recently enjoyed Macallan 18 yo.

Dewars white label is my go to cheap scotch.
