Question about Chris Garrett!!

I'm as skeptical of JJ "getting it" as anyone. But all I hear is how good Garrett is! My question is how do we know he is the deal?? We all described Lee the same way. Has someone snuck into practice and seen him lighting it up, or is everyone getting inside info?? I just not crazy about anymore QB controversy...maybe JJ is our best option?

I'd like to know too because ive never seem him play except on a few highlight reels.

who really knows? It is a fact that there are kids playing in their first year and performing above JJ's level at various positions and even QB. there are rookie QB in the NFL who can lead their teams to victory on any Sunday against a veteran QB. i'm not at the practices, in fact no one is allowed after 20 minutes of warm ups. so what does really go on behind closed doors? i also believe that we are allowed to speak our minds in a rational way. albeit, i'm not perfect but i've been following college F.B. since the mid 50's. and LSU is my team, so i am concerned about the state of affairs with the players, coaching and even the postentiality of lossing more quality players in LA, TX and wherever LSU recruits this season. you do realize if it worsens that this snowball going down hill will only get larger?

The three greatest quarterbacks in LSU history: Y.A. Tittle, Bert Jones and whoever is the current backup.

Anyone who thinks that, for the third year in a row, LSU should break in another freshman QB in the SEC is white hot stupid.

I hope Garrett doesn't play at all next year so the staff can't do to him what it has done to JL and JJ.

Garret's Highlight vids aren't that special, either.
4 step process of the Garrett love affair:
1) Offense performs poorly
2) Most idiots put the blame on the shoulders of the QB
3) 2nd string QB has performed demonstrably awful
4) Nobody thinks Shep can throw the ball
That leaves us with Garrett, by default. There were some comments about him being impressive in the spring. . .but we heard all that about Lee, Jefferson, and Richard Murphy.
This is the thought process of the average rant dweller.

All there is to know is that he will give JJ a run for his money in the spring.

Why isn't R. Shepard being named as being a player in the qb sweepstakes

Backup QB's are always better to the fans when the season doesn't go like they thought it should.Welcome to life's lesson on human nature.Ask JL as he was being called the second coming of Brett Farve. Now most hope he leaves.Leave out human nature in your equation and you will get screwed everytime.

Because the backup QB is always the best QB on the team? We don't know. If we got a free season ticket for every big time recruit that flopped (not just at LSU, but anywhere) we'd be set.

Here is what I know:
1) He was highly touted in the Starkville, Ms area (Tupelo?). His Father and family overall took a lot of greif for him choosing LSU over Miss State. I think his Dad went there and is a Ms St fan
2) Rivals 100 had him as a 3-star Pro style QB (was 4-star at one point and then down to 3-star i think). He is 6' 4" Pro size QB with a strong arm.
3) Spring Game - I saw him and he looked very sharp. Showed very good pocket presence and overall situational awareness, stepping up in the pocket several times to make strong and accurate throws. He just looked like a very composed and mature leader, and he really did look like the "real deal" in that venue. Granted it was only the spring game, but I came away very impressed about his potential on the Ponderosa.
That's all I can offer about him.

If Chris Garrett starts he will stink it up like all other young SEC QBs

Not really. I remember a lot of people saying "we need a QB" after the 2008 spring P&G scrimmage. A lot of people were not impressed with Lee or Hatch

Garrett stood out in the spring game. I guess that is why we are high on him.
