Is there really a point to this? Just equip scavenger and never run out of ammo.

Extended mags... Think about that.

Then think about how it's different from just the amount of ammo you have

You lost what credibilty you had in referencing ammunition and/or guns. Ever shot a real assault rifle? Ever used a real extended magazine compared to a regular basic magazine?

It was just a question jeez.

Oh and by the way, video games=/= real life. Tough concept.. I know.

Basically extended mags increases the amount you can shoot before you have to reload. So if you find yourself in lengthy fire fights and running out of ammo is killing you, then this might help. Or you could toss a flashbang/stun grenade and duck behind cover and reload.

Scavenger just makes sure you always have ammo to reload with.

well the extended magazines include more ammo. so you don't have to reload as often.

if you use any of the semi-automatic sniper rifles (esp. the WA2000) it's a really nice addition.

Since this is a discussion of real guns and ammo right? Since, in the game, I have to worry about wind drift and bullet drop. Honestly, when every shot hits exactly where the little red dot is pointed, no matter the distance, I think we can go ahead and assume that there isn't much realism that made the transition into the game.

Sorry I don't see the point of extended mags, because I put my shots where they need to be in the first place. That and I reload after every exchange anyway. Maybe you guys should be more accurate so you won't need extended mags

If I run out of ammo, this is exactly what I do

And the point of this thread was to suggest that this is a wasted gun attachment, which it is.

I dont use extended mags, but your argument of why you didn't know is dumb. It's not your skill that prevented you from realizing the difference, it was your apparent lack of common sense.

Common sense isn't the issue here really, it's the pointless gun attachment. Did I realize that there are more bullets in the mag? Yes, of course. Did I realize that this would, theoretically*, mean that I would be able to shoot more before having to reload? Yes, of course. That doesn't change the fact that I still don't see the point.

Here's why, there are people on here better than I am at the game. If my skill level is such that I don't need to worry about running out of ammo, why would anybody else, especially if I'm not one of the best players on here?

*I say theoretically because I've never run out of ammo in the middle of a firefight.

Shot placement>extended mags

Don't try to flip this into a philosophy debate.

Clearly you didn't realize the point of extended mags was so you wouldn't have reload as often.

Where is there a philosophical point in my post? Please point that out to me, because I thought I was just explaining my point but apparently I was giving a dissertation....

I'd reload with extended mags just as often as I would without them.

there is your philosophical point.

You are trying to say Now that the reason for the thread was to argue that it is a pointless attachment to your weapon because you reload after exchanges anyway.

But the real reason was you didnt realize extended mags meant you didn't have to reload in a firefight as often

you asked a question. The answer to the question was that it allows you to get off more rounds before reloading.

After that was pointed out to you, you said of course you realized that, you didn't need it because you have good shot placement.

If it was the case that you knew exactly what it was for, then why ask What the point is?

Sorry if I sound like I'm
attacking you.

I'm not meaning to.

Just a bit bummed because my PS3 is broke and I can't even get on modern warfare 2. Extended mags or none.

Merry Christmas:)

Soonerborn had a valid question to start with he just didn't ask it right? The Scavenger Pro perk gives you extended mags to go along with the unlimited ammo you can pick up. Are the extended mags for scavenger pro different than the ones you have to unlock with fmj?

Okie you are way off I'm afraid.

With scavenger pro you get Extra mags... Not extended mags. You simply start with more ammo.

Fmj has nothing to do with extended mags.

Scavenger is a perk. Fmj is an attachment that allows for greater bullet damage through penetrated surfaces. Extended mags is an attachment that allows you to hold more rounds per magazine thus allowing you to put more rounds out before having to reload.

They are not at all related.

Eta, I just realized you said that the extended mags are the one unlocked by Using the FMJ attachment.

My bad. Anyway, still, scavenger pro gives you extra magazines. Different from extended mags unlocked with fmj

I'm afraid you are wrong. Scavenger pro gives extended mags the 6 shot colt has 12 bullets with scavenger pro on. That doesn't sound like an extra magazine to me, it sounds extended. You get at least double the magazine capacity in every gun, not just more ammo in general

also you went into a whole explanation about fmj when I'm fully aware of what equipping a gun with it means. The only reason I brought it up is because it is necessary to unlock extended mags which as soonerborn brought up to begin with is useless if you've got scavenger pro

There, I'm done. Merry effing Christmas
