seriously, I've always liked joe pa. He has been a class act for years. Great FB coach and even greater human being. It's an honor to do battle against him.

Joe Pa is a heck of a coach and a heck of a mentor. Of course, he's been around since God was a kid...

Joe Paterno car incident

Paterno said he told the driver, "'Don't do that again, because I took your license number.' And I really hadn't taken her license number. All of a sudden, somebody knocks on my window. I put the window down, and he says, 'That's my wife.'"

Paterno said he responded to the driver's husband, "Boy, that's your problem" -- though he later regretted saying that.

In my short life, I've always had respect for Joe. Any idea if hes retiring soon?

I have no inside knowledge whatsoever, but this is my best guess.

2010 will be a "rebuilding" year of 8-9 wins, as PSU has to go on the road to Alabama, anOSU, and Iowa. 2011 will be the last hurrah for JoePa. Assuming no key NFL departures, it should be an above average team with an easier schedule. I could see him announcing before the 2011 season that it will be his last.

I doubt that we will win a NC in 2011, but it looks to be the best shot in the near future. That's why I think it will be his last year, win or lose.

He has 2 years left on his contract. I also wouldn't be surprised if 2011 was his last, but I seriously doubt it will be announced that away in advance. I'm pretty sure he's against the whole "farewell tour" concept and wants the focus to be on the players.

That said, I suspect he'll get a contract extension and announce that he's stepping down at the end of that season.

However, he's healthy. He's sharp. And he's still effective. If he wasn't, he wouldn't enjoy it so much and I think he would quit. So, who really knows? He could go another 5 years.

Jan 1st, 2010. My 6 year old son and 12 year old daughter will have seen the winningest coach in football history live. That is something no one can take from them.
