Our image is still as a top football power.
Even after the disappointment of last year, we still got more respect than we deserved this year.
For years, including this year, throughout the season, LSU has consistently ranked first or second, among all teams with the same number of losses we currently had.
Despite our pathetic national stats this year, prior to our 2 games against #1 and #2, we were still hyped as their toughest challenge of the year and even picked to win by some respected football analysts. And each game beared out that high respect for LSU.
LSU still has the image as the undisputed greatest venue in college football, and everyone in the country knows that college football on Saturday night in Baton Rouge is as good as it gets.
We continue to recruit as well as anyone in the country.
Our football identity is still the envy of most programs in this country.
And, if we make a strong statement next year and return to playing more like a BCS title contender week in and out, we will cement our reputation as a top-5 program for at least another few years, IMHO.
